Welcome, this is our first newsletter and really is meant to be a Welcome letter to all our Hatton cousins. There is no doubt, if it were possible, that we would find that we come from the same root families in England. I have attempted within the site to give as much history as I can type. Much has been said about our family and much of that has been by those who are not Hattons, thus , I think , little care has been taken. I'd like to first make one thing very clear....there is no difference between the Hatton and Hatten, both of these names are found in every Hatton family I have researched. The parish registers in England are full of the use of these two spellings for one family. There are probably many reasons that we have the two spellings. First, is becausec of the way we Hattons have pronouced the name. If someone was not aware of the original spelling it wouldn't surprise us as how easily the name could have been placed in parishregisters and other records as Hatten. In my own family I found generations using the E spelling. More on that sort of thing later.......The purpose here is to form a Hatton Family History Society that includes all Hattons. We are not looking for related families, but all those who bear the name and it's variations. And then there are our French cousins who we must always include. I have placed links to some wonderful Hatton Hat (t) on Sites. If you find that I miss a spelling just send me an email. It is quite an endeavor to try to put all of this together and is so doing I know I will make mistakes. I hope that with time volunteers will come forward tom assist in some small way. I do think it's about time that we made ourselves known. We, Hattons, have been sitting on the side lines for quite some time while others have gathered their forces and created a place for their family name. So gather your Arms, your Steeds, Shields, Lances and whatever else, and let's proceed to let the world know we are here! We are indeed a force to be reckoned with, especially with the aid of our Irish, Scot and French cousins. So, for now welcome, and enjoy our site....tell your families, your friends and whoever else you please..............Before I end may I say that John was by far the most popular Hatton given name, although Ernest was one of the first..........I guess they didn't like Ernest. With that I'll close this first letter. My best to all, Ernest Hatton P.S. I seldom spell check so please forgive whatever mistakes may have made. At one time I didn't use punctuation so I have come a long way........ More as time allows... |
